Summary

What you’ll impact

The Field Application Engineer will act as the technical bridge between customers and the organization’s engineering team, presenting the organization’s value proposition and supporting customers through the design cycle. This role involves building demos, reference designs, and providing hands‑on support to drive design wins and production adoption of the organization’s processor architecture.

Responsibilities

What you'll do

  • Create and present Efficient's technical value proposition to customers, from engineers to executives
  • Understand customer applications and system requirements, and propose optimal Efficient-based solutions
  • Partner with Regional Sales Managers, distributors and representatives to secure design-wins and drive them to production
  • Provide hands-on technical support throughout the design cycle, from evaluation and board bring-up to debugging and optimization
  • Build custom demos, proofs of concept and benchmarks that show Efficient's performance and energy advantage
  • Respond quickly and accurately to technical inquiries, RFQs and customer escalations, coordinating with internal engineering as needed
  • Author reference designs, application notes and training materials for customers and channel partners
  • Serve as the voice of the customer, feeding requirements and competitive insights back to Product and Engineering
  • Build and maintain strong technical relationships with key customer engineering teams

Requirements

What you’ll bring

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or similar field is required.
  • Minimum 4 years of embedded software development experience with an understanding of embedded hardware including digital and analog circuits.
  • Experience with ARM or RISC-V microcontrollers.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems; Python for scripting, tooling and test automation
  • Hands-on experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power analyzers and JTAG/SWD debuggers
  • Minimum 2 years of successfully supporting customer product development.
  • Experience working with embedded software, sensor fusion algorithms, edge AI models and interfacing with wireless modules or wireless SOCs.
  • Experience at a semiconductor company or MCU vendor supporting design-wins
  • Background in target markets such as industrial IoT, wearables, smart home, medical or defense
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites, up to 25% of time.
  • Strong customer communication skills in English, written and spoken.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to take ownership of assigned tasks and work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with team members and other departments.
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders
  • Comfortable presenting to customers, including live demos and whiteboard sessions
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and persistence with ambiguous or undocumented problems
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced startup where processes are still being built
  • Able to juggle multiple customer engagements and prioritize by business impact
